BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU
  Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is pre dominantly a ground fighting art focussing on submission holds with joint-locks and chokeholds. The premise is that a smaller and weaker person is able to overcome larger and stronger opponents whose advantages are neutralised against a jiu jitsu exponent when grappling on the ground. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an efficient self-defence and an extraordinary way of exercising while developing a wide range of qualities such as: humility, discipline, respect, self-esteem, concentration, body awareness and balance.

BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU / Submission Grappling No GI
  These will be structured as per the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes but the techniques will focus on using grips without the gi. You will learn to use underhooks, overhooks and body locks to control your opponent.

Suitable attire; grappling shorts, board shorts (without exterior buttons/zips etc), rashguard, t-shirt, gi trousers.
 


 

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (From 8 years upwards)
  This class is available to children aged 8 and over.

This class starts with a warm up, instruction, a controlled rolling session and a warm down. Children will gain valuable self defence confidence whilst burning energy!

ADULT BOXING
  The noble art of boxing known as the "sweet science" offers everyone the opportunity to achieve a fitness or life goal but it can be intimidating to walk into a boxing club, so many people miss out on the benefits that it can provide.

Our gym are set up to take people from beginners to advanced stage, so don't think you will be the only one there who has never boxed before.
The combat and exercise centre offers individuals and groups the opportunity to train with boxing coaches in a safe, comfortable environment at a pace that works for you. Our programmes are based on the training principles used by amateur and professional boxers and can achieve outstanding results in weight loss, muscle gain and improved fitness and coordination. Boxing is also a hard to beat, stress busting workout that promotes discipline, respect and self-control.

You don't have to fight or have any physical contact unless you choose to. You do have to have commitment and a champion's attitude and you'll see amazing results.


Remember, you'll never have to spar if that's not what you are looking for
So step up and put the gloves on.
 

 

 

KIDS BOXING (From 5 years upwards)
  The noble art of boxing known as the "sweet science" offers everyone the opportunity to achieve a fitness or life goal but it can be intimidating to walk into a boxing club, so many people miss out on the benefits that it can provide.
We'll start you off with the basics - jab, cross, hook, uppercut, footwork, defence - and you determine how far you want to go. Our extremely talented coaches will break down every punch and step for you in a positive manner that promotes self-esteem and correct technique.
We not only have boys in our boxing classes, we also have plenty of girls too
Remember, you'll never have to spar if that's not what you are looking for and our sparring is always taught in a very progressive manner to ensure you continue to build confidence.
 
Mixed martial arts
  Mixed martial arts (commonly referred to as MMA) takes the best techniques from multiple arts including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, Muay Thai, Boxing and combines them in a combat sport, in which two competitors attempt to defeat each other using a vartity of skills. MMA has grown in its popularity through televised competitions such as UFC, Pride and K1. You will learn a wide variety of fighting techniques, including clinch work, striking, takedowns, submissions, escapes and ground n pound, all needed for a fight in a cage. MMA also makes an excellent self defence.
This is the class you've been looking for to take your combat sports training to another level.
 

 

 

Ladies Fitness and Self Defence
  Ladies Fitness and Self Defence
We believe that it is essential that we are aware of the potential dangers that surround us and that a class of this nature will enable you to develop self confidence and the physical skills required to defend yourself should a threatening situation arise. This is a female only class specifically designed for the student to learn at their own pace and in a relaxed environment.
The ladies fitness and self defence class runs on Wednesdays and Saturdays alongside the children's kick boxing class, making it even easier for Mum's to train whilst their children participate in martial arts.
The class starts with a warm up. The main body of the session always incorporates core fitness training to build up strength and flexibility. Boxing, Thai Boxing and Self Defence techniques are also incorporated. The session finishes with a stretch down helping to prevent muscle injury. Sessions are varied which helps to increase motivation and reduce the risk of becoming bored and giving up!
 

 

 

Ladies Only Kickboxing
  Our style of kickboxing utilises the explosive hand techniques of Western Boxing, combined with ther powerful kicks of Kickboxing, Tae Kwon Do and Muay Thai. This combination makes for a great workout as well as self defence skills. These classes stenghten body and mind.
Our system of kickboxing is without doubt the most rewarding and challenging workout system available today. The combination of the physical and mental conditioning, sportsmanship and self-worth that you will develop is unequalled in any workout system. Our kickboxing teaches you to rely on yourself, to value the input of others and most importantly helps you to a new level of self-confidence. You will also find that this is challenging, mentally stimulating, physically demanding and a complete workout.
IF YOU WANT TO GET INTO SHAPE, LEARN NEW SKILLS, HAVE FUN AND IMPROVE CONFIDENCE, THIS CLASS IS FOR YOU.

Training includes:
- Padwork to develop technique and power

Muay Thai - Thai boxing
  Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) can trace it's origins 2,000 years ago to the ancient and nomadic tribes that wandered through Central and South-East Asia.
Eventually they settled in the part of the world known now as Thailand and, being forced to defend themselves against their neighbours, developed a system of warfare which included Krabi-Krabong (traditional weapons) and Muay Chao Chur from which the sport of Muay Thai later evolved.
Both systems of combat proved effective in countless battles. During the periods of peace the soldiers would fight for sport, and it was from this era that the modern sport of Muay Thai evolved. Muay Thai is world-renowned for its simplicity and devastating effectiveness. The art dubbed 'the science of eight limbs' for its amazing use of hands, legs, knees and elbows. The Muay Thai practitioner has a wide varirty of effective techniques superior speed and conditioning, all gained through hard training. The classes will incorporate technique drills, bag and pad work, sparring (separate classes) as well as fitness and conditioning.

 
Young Peoples Muay Thai - Thai boxing (from 9 years upwards)
  Muay Thai / Thai Boxing is a martial art accessible to people of all ages, including young people (both female and male).
Following a suitable course in Muay Thai training, youngsters will benefit enormously from the inevitable physical and mental improvements.
Muay Thai boxing will improve a child's self-confidence and self-awareness. As well as keep them quick and agile, healthy and strong.
Naturally, at this age training is not at all intensive as adults and the syllabus of is course different. The youngsters are not encouraged to hurt one another but more to perfect the art. Through this philosophy you will see your children's levels of courage, determination and self-motivation improve drastically.
Muay Thai training will not engender a violent nature in your child
In fact, he or she will learn quite the opposite kind of values. Young Thai boxers are noticeably more calm, reasonable and ready to negotiate than their unsporting peers, and much less prone to violence outside of the ring.
Muay Thai training offers benefits to everyone; most especially the student, but also the trainer, and the sport.
Through Muay Thai boxing your child can:
- learn to defend them self
- build self-confidence and discipline
- develop self-control, determination and learn to keep a cool heart
- achieve good health and a quick, strong body
 

 

Circuits and Conditioning
  Our Circuits and Conditioning classes are not just for martial artists, they are for anyone that wants to lose weight, get fit, build speed, strength and power
The class is a circuit style group exercise class using exercises and drills that martial artists perform when training for competition. The class is an exciting blend of plyometrics exercises and striking drills in a safe non-contact workout. This unique and original exercise class that will help them improve their cardio fitness, lose weight, tone up, have fun and reduce stress. You don't need any martial arts experience to participate in this workout since we are not here to teach you how to fight but to get you fighting fit.

 
Children's Kickboxing and Martial Arts Concepts (from 5 years upwards)
  We take children into this class from the age of 5. We teach children completely differently to our adults, not just in our approach but also in our syllabus.
Instead of just teaching them one aspect of the martial arts, we introduce our children to a syllabus that covers the basics of several arts, including Boxing (Keeping their hands up, footwork and of course punching), Kickboxing (For kicking and foot and hand combinations) and Brazilian Jui Jitsu (for escapes from the ground to allow them to get back to their feet). The reason we teach in this way is so when they get older, they will have enough information and skills to enable them to make an informed choice to how they wish to proceed.
Children's Kickboxing and Martial Arts Concepts is a martial arts program specifically designed for children. This program focuses on improving your child's skills in focus, control, balance, teamwork, memory, discipline, coordination and awareness.
The classes are designed to set the basics for later training as the children progress to the next level, Maybe into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Thai Boxing, Boxing or a combination of these. Your Child is taken through a varied syllabus of techniques. We have found this a fantastic for teaching your child the basic practical martial arts skills at this age.

And lets not forget this is a children's class, children need more of the instructors time so we have two instructors on the mats and the classes are designed to be fun and we always play games at the end!
